first find a market of people that spend money online then acquire or develop a product to sell them what it is they want or are looking to buy.
The market you choose should be easy for you to reach ( easy to contact to make sales) don’t waste your time trying to sell what people don’t want.
Get an idea of what sells online look at

and set up a hosting account at http://www.hostgator.com (baby croc plan) 9 dollars a month for unlimited number of sites.
at hostgator use the fantastico deluxe button on the control panel and install word press, add content to the site, integrate a payment button (paypal) and get marketing the site..
If you don’t want to build a site at first get started selling on eBay, learn how to write listings, sell, take orders, ship, deal with customers etc..
Choose a topic, hobby, subject or marketplace you know or like, that way your more likely to make it work for yourself.
